- Who We Are
Nefesh B’Nefesh Aliyah (“NBN”) is an Israeli not for profit organization whose purposes are the encouragement of aliya and facilitation of the aliya process from North America, support of lone soldiers and lone national service, Zionist education and Israel development projects. NBN Connect (“NBN Connect”) is an initiative powered and fully owned by NBN that provides practical services, tools, professional connections, and selected offers designed to support Olim before, during, and after Aliyah, including without limitation Hebrew Connect, job placement services, digital fingerprinting and criminal background check assistance, the Life in Israel Directory, and access to English speaking service providers and special offers for Olim, email list subscriptions, email communications, and other online forms or communications submitted through NBN Connect (“Services”).
Services are offered through our website (https://staging.nbnconnect.co.il/) (“Website”) and related communications channels.
- Our Role and About this Privacy Policy
In this Policy, we describe the personal data that NBN Connect collects and processes, either through its Website or through other communications channels.
Certain laws differentiate between a party that determines why and how personal data is processed (a “controller”) and a party that processes personal data on the controller’s behalf and per its instructions (a “processor”). We are the controller with respect to the processing described in this Privacy policy (“Policy”).
In this Policy, we describe
- what personal data we collect about you, the reasons why we collect and use it, and with whom we share it;
- Explain the way we use the personal data that you share with us through NBN Connect and related services; and
- Explain your rights and choices in relation to the personal data we collect and process about you and how we protect your privacy.
The terms governing your use of the NBN Connect website are defined in our Terms and Conditions of Use (the “Terms & Conditions”). From time to time, we may develop new or additional services, tools, features, or functionality. Unless stated otherwise, these additional services will also be subject to this Policy. If you do not agree with the content of this Policy, you may choose not to use NBN Connect or certain Services.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time and the updated Privacy Policy will be made available through the Website, and the “Last Updated” date above will be revised accordingly. Unless otherwise stated, and subject to applicable law, any changes will take effect when the updated Privacy Policy is posted. Where a change is material, we may provide additional notice by appropriate means, such as by email, or a prominent notice on the Website.
- Information We Collect and How we Collect It
We have set out below the type of personal data we collect, how we collect it, how we use the information we collect. Unless we have noted otherwise, we use the information we collect in order to provide you with the relevant assistance or Services requested by you.
Most of the information we collect is provided by you. We might also collect additional information from third parties, NBN, service providers, governmental agencies, employers, recruiters, directory participants, or other organizations involved in a service requested by you.
Provision of personal data to us is voluntary. You do not have to provide us with your Personal data, but if you choose not to provide us with that information, we may not be able to provide you with certain Services that you request.
- Inquiry and Contact Data
When you contact NBN Connect, submit an online form, email us, contact us by WhatsApp or telephone, or request more information about any NBN Connect service, you may provide us with personal data such as your name, email address, phone number, country, message content, and other contact details or information included in your inquiry. We retain the content of the message, your contact information, our response, and related records. We need this information in order to respond to your inquiry, provide the information or service you requested, and maintain appropriate records of our communications with you.
- Hebrew Connect Data
If you request information about Hebrew Connect or related Hebrew learning services, you may provide us with personal data such as your first name, last name, email address, phone number, country, message content, whether you are in the process of making Aliyah, how you heard about Hebrew Connect, and other information relevant to your inquiry or participation in Hebrew learning services.
Where you take a placement test or register for Hebrew learning services through a separate NBN website or third party provider, the information submitted through that separate website or provider may also be subject to the privacy policy applicable to that website or provider. We use the information you provide in order to respond to your inquiry, coordinate placement or course options, communicate with you about Hebrew Connect, and provide or facilitate Hebrew learning services.
- Job Placement and CV Data
If you request NBN Connect’s assistance in finding employment, then you might supply NBN Connect with your resume/CV and other details regarding your employment history, education, professional qualifications, skills, job preferences, Aliyah status or plans, and related information.
NBN Connect provides placement services designed to connect English speaking Olim and candidates planning Aliyah with employers in Israel. The employment information provided to NBN Connect will be used to help you find employment in Israel and may be shared with potential employers, recruiters, headhunters, employment advisors, or other employment support providers. We need the information you provide in order to assist you in your search for employment, assess potential opportunities, match you with relevant roles, and communicate with you and prospective employers in connection with the placement process.
If you are an employer using NBN Connect’s placement services, you may provide us with your name, email address, phone number, company details, role descriptions, hiring needs, and related business contact information. We use this information to understand your hiring needs, provide recruitment support, refer candidates, and administer the placement process.
- Digital Fingerprinting and Criminal Background Check Data
If you request or use NBN Connect’s digital fingerprinting and criminal background check assistance, you may provide us with information required to guide you through the process, schedule or coordinate fingerprinting, process payment or paperwork where applicable, monitor status, provide updates, and assist with optional apostille or authentication steps. Please note that the digital fingerprinting and criminal background checks are ordered directly by you from an external service provider and our role is only to assist and guide you through this process, including by processing your payment When you use our fingerprint machine, the fingerprints and online application for criminal background check are transmitted directly through external servers to the FBI or their service providers. We do not collect, process or store your fingerprints or any other information that you may provide in your online application for fingerprinting and criminal background check. We will process your payment information in order to facilitate use of the service, but we will have access only to other information submitted in the application if you have requested our assistance in filling out the online application and we do not save or store this information.
- The information that you provide as part of this process, including your fingerprints, is processed in accordance with the relevant governmental entity’s privacy policies, This information is processed in the United States, and the processing thereof may not be compliant with Israeli law. Life in Israel Directory and Service Provider Information
NBN Connect includes a Life in Israel Directory designed to connect Olim with service providers across areas such as accounting, legal services, real estate, healthcare, housing, relocation, professional services, and other services relevant to Aliyah and life in Israel. If you use the directory, we may collect technical information about your use of the directory and any information you choose to submit through related contact forms or communications. If you contact a service provider directly outside NBN Connect, that provider’s own privacy practices will apply.
If you are a business or professional interested in being considered for inclusion in the Life in Israel Directory, you may provide us with your name, email address, phone number, business name, company website, message content, professional or business information, credentials, service descriptions, and related information. We use this information to review directory inquiries, assess eligibility, communicate with you, administer the directory, and maintain the quality and integrity of the service provider network.
- Email List, WhatsApp, and Marketing Communications
If you subscribe to an email list, join or request to join a WhatsApp channel, or otherwise ask to receive updates about NBN Connect deals, services, or resources, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, WhatsApp contact information, communication preferences, and related information. We use this information to send you updates, notices, opportunities, offers, and service related communications that may be relevant to Olim and users of NBN Connect.
The electronic marketing messages you receive from NBN Connect or NBN, including those sent via email, will include an opt out mechanism where required by applicable law. WhatsApp communications are also subject to WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy practices.
- Technical Information Collected From Website Use
We also collect technical information such as your browser type, IP address, type of operating system you use, the name of your internet service provider, mobile advertising identifiers, pages visited on our Services, referring websites, and the date and time when you visited or used NBN Connect.
We use cookies and other tracking technologies. Our use of cookies and other tracking technologies is discussed in our Cookie Policy [include link to cookie policy]. We may use email service providers to send newsletter emails, platform notices, or other communications to users who subscribe to receive them or who need to receive service related communications.
We may use analytics tools, such as Google Analytics or similar tools, to collect information about the use of NBN Connect and related NBN websites. Such tools may collect information such as how often users visit a website, what pages they visit, and what other websites they visited prior to coming to a website. We use this information in order to improve our Services. Information gathered through such tools may be transferred and saved to servers in jurisdictions outside your country of residence, including the United States. You may opt out of certain analytics tracking by using tools made available by the relevant analytics provider.
- Information collected from Governmental Agencies and Other Third Parties
We may collect information from governmental agencies or other third parties where necessary to assist you with a service you requested such as check processing, authentication or apostille procedures, employment placement, or other services relating to Aliyah or absorption.
We may also collect information from employers, recruiters, professional service providers, directory participants, authentication or payment providers, technology vendors, and other organizations that assist us in providing the Services.
- Third Party Links and External Services
NBN Connect may provide links to resources we think you will find useful. These links may lead you to sites that are not affiliated with NBN Connect and may operate under different privacy practices. You are responsible for reviewing the privacy policies for such other websites, as we have no control over information that is submitted to other sites.
Certain NBN Connect services will redirect you to other NBN websites, third party service providers, employers, recruiters, educational providers, governmental websites, payment providers, WhatsApp, or other external services. Please carefully review the then current privacy policy of any such site or service, as they may operate under different privacy practices.
- Legal basis for processing
We process personal data for the purposes set out in this Policy, as described above. We will only collect, process, or share your personal data if we are satisfied that we have an appropriate legal basis to do this. This may be because:
- It is necessary in order to provide you with a service, information, or assistance that you requested from NBN Connect or NBN;
- It is necessary in connection with employment placement services, Hebrew learning services, directory services, digital fingerprinting, criminal background check assistance, apostille or authentication services, or other NBN Connect services;
- It is necessary in order for us to comply with a legal or regulatory requirement, including requirements relating to governmental processing, identity verification, criminal background checks, document authentication, or requests from competent authorities;
- It is necessary for our legitimate interests, for example, to provide and improve NBN Connect and our Services, communicate with users and service providers, maintain service records, protect the security and integrity of our systems, administer the Life in Israel Directory, or support Olim and service providers in connection with Aliyah and absorption;
- It is necessary for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims; or
- Where we have no other valid legal basis to process personal data, it will be processed based on your consent, which may subsequently be withdrawn at any time by emailing our privacy contact at connectprivacy@nbn.org.il. Withdrawal of your consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal, or processing that is being done on the basis of other lawful grounds.
Certain categories of information, including fingerprinting related information, criminal background check information, identity document information, and other sensitive information, may be subject to additional legal requirements depending on the applicable law and the nature of the service. We will process such information in accordance with applicable legal requirements.
- Your rights under local laws
Subject to certain exemptions, and in some cases dependent upon the processing activity we are undertaking, you may have, under certain applicable laws, some or all of the following rights with respect to your Personal data. We remind you that we are an Israeli organization.
- Right of Access: the right to be informed of and request access to the personal data we process about you.
- Right to Rectification: the right to request that we amend or update your personal data where it is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Right to Erasure: the right to request that we delete your personal data where: (i) it is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was collected; (ii) you have withdrawn your consent, where the processing of your personal data was based on consent; (iii) you have successfully objected, as described below; or (iv) it has been processed unlawfully.We are not required to comply with your request to erase personal data if the processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation, for retention obligations imposed on us, for completion or documentation of a service you requested, or for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.
- Right to Restrict: the right to request that we temporarily or permanently stop processing all or some of your personal data.
- Right to Object: the right to object to your personal data being processed for direct marketing purposes and the right, at any time, to object to us processing your personal data which has our legitimate interests as its legal basis if you believe your fundamental rights and freedoms outweigh our legitimate interests. If you raise an objection, we have an opportunity to demonstrate that we have compelling legitimate interests which override your rights and freedoms.
If you wish to issue a request to exercise your rights where applicable by law, please contact our Privacy Office at connectprivacy@nbn.org.il. Please provide your name and contact information along with the request. When we receive a request to exercise one of these rights, we will indicate what Personal data we require from you to validate your identity. We will also provide information on the action we intend to take on the request without undue delay. Please note, these requests are subject to applicable legal or document retention obligations imposed on us.
The electronic marketing messages you receive from NBN Connect if you have subscribed to receive such messages, including those sent via email, also will include an opt out mechanism within the message itself. Service related emails, appointment notices, application or process updates, security notices, and communications necessary to provide a service you requested may not be subject to the same opt out rules as marketing communications.
- Sharing your personal data
We do not share, sell, or otherwise disclose your personal data for purposes other than those outlined in this Policy. However, we may disclose personal data that we collect from you or that you provided to us to the following recipients for the purposes described below:
- To contractors, service providers, and other third parties we use to support our activities and who are bound by contractual obligations to keep personal data confidential and use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them, such as hosting providers, website vendors, email and messaging service providers, payment or transaction support providers, analytics providers, customer support providers, secure document management providers, and other vendors assisting in the operation of NBN Connect or other NBN Services.
- To potential employers, recruiters, headhunters, employment advisors, or other employment support providers, where you have requested NBN Connect’s assistance in finding employment or have used employment related services.
- To businesses, professionals, or service providers participating in or applying to participate in the Life in Israel Directory, where necessary to administer the directory, respond to inquiries, connect users with service providers, review directory applications, maintain directory quality, or provide related services.
- To Hebrew learning providers, instructors, course administrators, placement test providers, or other service providers involved in Hebrew Connect or related language learning services, where necessary to respond to your inquiry, assess placement, coordinate participation, or provide related services.
- To community volunteers, partner organizations, or support organizations, where you request or consent to such assistance, or where such sharing is otherwise appropriate to provide the service you requested.
- To law enforcement and data protection authorities, if it is necessary in order to comply with any court order, law, or legal process, including to respond to any government or regulatory request when we in good faith believe it is necessary for us to do so.
- To professional advisors, auditors, insurers, or legal representatives where necessary for legitimate organizational, legal, compliance, audit, insurance, or risk management purposes.
We take proper steps to ensure that recipients of your personal data are bound to duties of confidentiality and we implement data protection contractual clauses between the parties to ensure that any transferred Personal data remains protected and secure. - International transfers and storage
Because NBN Connect may work with users, service providers, governmental agencies, technology vendors, employers, and other parties in different jurisdictions, if we are hiring a third party to perform services on your behalf, your personal data may be transferred by us to, stored in, or accessed from countries outside the country in which you reside, including Israel and, where applicable, the United States or other jurisdictions in which our service providers operate. Where required by applicable law, we will take appropriate steps designed to ensure that the personal data that we transfer to third parties receives an adequate level of protection, including by entering into appropriate contractual arrangements or relying on other lawful transfer mechanisms.
- Data Security
The security of your personal data is extremely important to us. We implement reasonable administrative, technical, physical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorized access, disclosure, loss, misuse, alteration, or destruction. These measures may include access controls, secure hosting arrangements, encryption or other technical safeguards where appropriate, monitoring and logging, vendor confidentiality obligations, and internal policies designed to protect personal data.
Because NBN Connect may involve the submission or processing of sensitive information, including, identity documents, passport information, payment or appointment information, digital fingerprinting related information, or criminal background check information, we apply safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information and the nature of the relevant processing. However, no system, transmission, or storage method is completely secure.
- Data Retention
We keep your personal data electronically only as long as necessary to provide you with Services for legitimate business and legal purposes, including legal obligations imposed upon NBN Connect, recordkeeping obligations, audit purposes, security purposes, or the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.
Information submitted through NBN Connect, including inquiries, form submissions, email list subscriptions, CVs and employment related information, employer information, directory provider information, Hebrew Connect inquiries, , appointment or process records, and related communications, may be retained for the period necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, for compliance with legal or governmental requirements, for service administration, for security and audit purposes, or for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims. Specific retention periods may vary depending on the nature of the information, the service involved, applicable law, and operational requirements.
- Minors
NBN Connect is not directed at children. NBN Connect does not knowingly collect Personal data directly from children, meaning persons under the age of 13, or another age if required by applicable law. However, certain services connected to Aliyah, family support, or governmental requirements may involve information regarding minors provided by parents, guardians, or authorized representatives. If you are a parent or guardian of a child who has provided Personal data without your knowledge and consent, you may request we remove this child’s information by emailing our Privacy Office at connectprivacy@nbn.org.il.
